Among all the craziness, we found a little time to celebrate our first Anniversary. We actually planned a little getaway with our "Supper Club". We try to get together once a month with our friends, The Chungs and The Buekers. Sometimes we get together with the kids, and sometimes without. The guys hate that we call it Supper Club, but us girls like it! We all celebrate our wedding anniversaries in April, so we decided to have one big celebration together. We contemplated going to St. Augustine or Amelia Island, but then we found a great deal at One Ocean Resort right here in Atlantic Beach. We didn't know when we planned this trip that we would be in the process of moving, but it worked out great. Because we were so close to the resort, we were able to work at the house on Saturday morning and still make it to the pool by noon! After checking into our room, we all lounged at the pool for a bit. Then we headed over to Lemon Bar for some cocktails...a virgin Dreamsicle for me followed by lots of water! The weather was amazing. The weather was unfortunate for most other states in the southeast this weekend, but Jacksonville had sun, warmth, and a slight breeze! For you locals, the Lemon Bar now has a taco stand. We devoured quite a few tacos!
After several hours in the sun, it was time to get ready for dinner. Matt was exhausted and crashed as soon as we hit the room. After his nap, we headed out with the gang to Tento, the Brazilian restaurant. This is the place where they continously bring different types of meat to your table. Since I am having a major meat aversion, I stuck to chicken and the salad bar (which was amazing!). Our table was by the front window. WOW!! The people watching we did! The crowd that night at the beach was something else! We laughed all afternoon and into the night. What a great mini-vacation! I highly recommend One Ocean resort, whether you are a local or just visiting. The service we had was great and it was nice to only be 5 minutes from home :)
